Professor Paul Myles
Professor Myles is Professor and Director of the Department of Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne and at Monash University. He has a Masters degree in Public Health and a doctorate degree in cardiothoracic anaesthesia. He is also an Australian National Health and Medical Research Council Practitioner Fellow, and a member of the Research, and Quality and Safety Committees of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. 
Professor Myles is an editor for the British Journal of Anaesthesia, an editorial consultant for The Lancet, and is on the Editorial Board of the journal Anaesthesia and Intensive Care. He has also been an invited reviewer for 30 other specialist and general medical journals.  

During his career, Professor Myles has published more than 180 papers and been awarded more than 18 NHMRC grants, totalling over $20 million.

The main focus of his research has been on patient quality of recovery, avoidance of postoperative complications and optimising disability-free survival after surgery, and large multi-centre trials in anaesthesia.
